Connecting at Singapore Changi Airport

* Due to COVID-19, kindly note that Scoot customers can only transit through Singapore Changi Airport from selected points, to any destination in the SIA Group network currently operated by Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Scoot. Transfers to and from flights operated by other airlines are currently not allowed. For more information, please click here.

Your handy guide to ensure there are no tears or fears when connecting at Changi Airport:

1. Always make sure you have enough time between connecting flights

At least two hours is recommended. Just remain in the transit area. You won’t need to clear arrival immigration and check in again for your connecting flight, so you won’t need a visa to enter Singapore.

2. Always make sure you know which terminal your connecting flight is operating from

All Scoot flights operate from Terminal 1 and have check-in counters at Rows 5-7. If you are connecting to other airlines, note that Changi Airport has 4 terminals and that it takes at least 10mins to travel between them. Find out which terminal your airline is operating from.

You'll enjoy through check-in to your final destination if you have Scoot and Singapore Airlines flights booked in the same itinerary.

Otherwise, you still have to collect any baggage and undergo the entire check-in and customs process again to receive your onward boarding pass.

3. Always know where you gotta go!

This is a big one. Aside from knowing which terminal to go to, you'll need to know how to get there! Check out this super-helpful interactive map of Changi Airport to plan for your transit.

4. Always ensure you have the right travel documents

Unless you have booked your connecting Scoot flight on the same booking itinerary or seamless transfers with our eligible partner airlines, you will need to pass through Arrival Immigration - with a valid visa (depending on your passport). You will not be able to board your flight if you do not have the necessary documents.

5. Plan your flight ahead of time

To avoid hunger, boredom or restlessness, pre-purchase your meals, inflight Wi-Fi or sleep essentials on your flight. Simply go to Scoot’s Manage My Booking.

6. Know your fares and fees

Don’t get caught with your pants down. Even when you have a connecting journey with two different airlines in a single booking, you may need to pay separate excess baggage fees for each flight. Check out our baggage rates and use Scoot’s Manage My Booking feature to add those extra kilos without being slapped with extra fees at the airport.

7. Protect yourself!

Neither Scoot nor our partner airlines will be responsible for any expenses you incur as a result of a missed connection. So to guarantee your trip goes smoothly, always ensure that you have Scootsurance or other travel insurance to cover your entire journey.
